Weekly Roundup: Valve confirms ‘Steam’ coming to Ubuntu

  • Valve confirms ‘Steam’ is coming to Ubuntu officially today after much speculation lately. For a start, they will be bring Left 4 Dead 2 to Ubuntu with other titles coming soon. Valve has stated their focus to port a fully functional Steam to Linux, bring more Valve titles, as well as optimise a version of L4D2 running at a high frame rate with OpenGL.   • Microsoft releases Office 15 which is more optimized for touch-screen devices as we look forward to the release of Windows 8 and Windows RT. Office 15 also blends well with the Metro interface while most of the software still looks the same as the previous version. A rather interesting addition is the ability for the user to search Bing or YouTube for videos and embedded them to the document. [Mashable]
  • Coursera partners with 12 new Universities apart from the starting Stanford, Princeton, University of Michigan, and University of Pennsylvania. This education start-up has also raised $3.7Million while reaching out to 1.5Million students. This partnership would also mean that new courses would be introduced at Coursera very soon.
